Happy 76th Birthday Ceeb!

On May 26th, 1932, the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Act was passed by Parliament which had established the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission (CRBC). Celebrations to be kept to a minimum. It’s Monday, after all.

I wonder if there are other reasons celebrations are being kept to a minimum.

Nice photo in this blog entry.

    Dwight Williams says:

Not stopping me from dining on some cake to celebrate at home, though. Angel food, specifically.

    Laurence says:

Sorry, Tod, today’s birthday has nothing to do with the CBC. It marks the anniversary of the creation of the forerunner of the Corp, namely the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission. The CRBC lasted from 1932 until 1936 when the government replaced it with the CBC in November of that year.

The CRBC’s big claim to fame was J. Frank Willis’ round-the-clock updates of the Moose River Mine Disaster in April of 1936 in Nova Scotia. A world-wide audience estimated at 100-million people tuned in to hear Willis’ reports.

So the CBC is actually 71 and will turn 72 this November.
