Royal Canadian Air Farce to end series next year

The Royal Canadian Air Farce, one of Canada’s longest-running comedy troupes, is wrapping up its weekly television show next season.

The sketch comedy show will produce nine shows in the fall, then end with a New Years Eve special.

It made its CBC Radio debut in December 1973, producing more than 600 radio broadcasts over 24 years. After brief stints on television in the 1980s, Air Farce took up its permanent place on the CBC-TV roster in 1993. It ran on radio and television for four seasons before moving exclusively to TV in 1997. In 2007, the show returned to a live format with Air Farce Live.

I hereby believe nothing that you or anyone else posts today :P

    April fools?

I’m quite saddened by this because I’ve practically grown up watching this show. It’s one of my favorite shows on TV.

First, they cut back on classical music, but it was OK, because I liked Jazz.
Then, they cut back on classical music and jazz, but it was OK, because I liked Air Farce.
Now, they are knocking at my door…
Oh well, I guess CBC wants to switch demographics. It is their right, and good luck to you. Farewell,
    Jerry

It was getting a bit goofy.

i’m sorry but it’s not funny and an embarrassment to to being canadian… please find the talent something else to do…

good… Air Farce = Not Funny

I loved them when they were on radio. But even my grandparents haven’t laughed at them in a long, long time. Roger, Don, and Luba (Not to mention Dave Broadfoot and the late John Morgan) are all certifiable national treasures. But crikey, the budget for just one episode of this long past its prime show could have probably saved the entire CBC Radio Orchestra!

OMG Finally! Air Farce is the anti-funny.
It’s a show that I have hated for my entire life.
    Thank you CBC.!

This show has been absoultely terrible for years. Just terrible. Surely the cast also knows this. There must be people telling them that they’re still funny is my guess. How else could the continue going through it week after week?

back in the day, this show as mildly funny - but the CBC has wasted millions of dollars producing this stuff way past its prime. there were funnier people who went to my high school - why don’t you give them a show?

i would say this was a good decision, except that it was a good decision 10 years ago - it’s so blatently obvious that this show should have been cancelled - and that’s the funniest part!

bravo CBC - millions of dollars well spent…

and you won’t foot the less than a mil for our national radio orchestra. god, you guys are so off the mark…
