Atwood novel being made into CBC movie
Actress Mary-Louise Parker will star in a made-for-television adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s The Robber Bride.
Parker will portray Zenia, a femme fatale whose story unravels from the point of view of three mutual friends she had betrayed. Other actors with leading roles in the film include Canadian performers Wendy Crewson, Shawn Doyle and Greg Bryk as well as Amanda Root and Susan Lynch from Britain.
The movie will be broadcast on CBC-TV in Canada and Oxygen in the United States. Shooting for the joint Canada/United Kingdom production began on Aug. 8 and runs to Sept. 7 in and around the Toronto and Hamilton areas.
Canadian literary icon Atwood, a prolific novelist, has had three other novels made into films: Surfacing, The Handmaid’s Tale and The Blind Assassin.
