Just noticed that someone posted a series of blingtastic retro mics on Flickr. {sigh} My home voicing booth seems so empty now.

So that was Elijah busy snapping away in the CBC Museum.
I’ll use this opportunity to promote the Museum.
We are currently working on a CBC Microphone brochure which will showcase 12 of the mics from our collection…something people have requested.
Also, we have added ten new vintage microphones to the grid in the last two weeks.
Come on back Elijah and all our friends! The CBC Museum is featuring The Friendly Giant, Mr. Dressup (yes the Tickle Trunk is there) and Sesame Park. Also on display are ancient sound effects devices going back as far as the 40s. Try recreating an arctic wind or the crackling of a fire.
When you visit don’t forget to check out the Ivan Harris Gallery. Take the escalator down tro see more of our collection ranging from old studio and portable disc and tape recorders to the tiny shoes of Joyce Hahn, one of the first female singers to appear on CBC Television in the early 1950s.
Hey thanks Tod.

I am a big fan of the museum! I am only here at CBC on contract for the summer, but I am surprised by the number of people I’ve met who have never gone in. I went in many times before I even worked here. I tell people to go in all the time, and even when I’m outside and talking to tourists… I tell them to visit the museum.
While I love the mikes – (they don’t make them like that anymore…but they should) – I especially loved the shots of The Friendly Giant’s castles. Ah…be still my beating child-like heart.
