CBC Radio to feature the “gayest music of all time”
First, I want to say this: I swear to god(s), I didn’t make this up.
CBC has issued a news release to media announcing that Ottawa-born actress Sandra Oh will guest-host a special season finale of CBC Radio One’s Go. In recognition of Gay Pride weekend across North America, the show will be called “The Gayest Music of All Time.“
“From disco favorites to Madonna anthems to techno and house music,” read the breathless news release from CBC’s publicity firm “Oh will share with listeners some of the timeless music associated with gay culture.”
The news release ends with this:
The Go season finale celebrates the gay community’s daily struggle for respect — so grab a glow-stick and dance!
No seriously. That’s what it said.
‘Cause, you know, that’s what the GLB community needs for respect. Glow sticks.
For the record, I’ve edited this a bit since originally posting it. Someone from Go emailed to tell me it sounded snarky. Not my intention, so I’ve given it a small desnarkification.
