CBC Radio One goes FM in Saskatoon

People in Saskatoon can now tune into a crystal-clear FM signal of CBC Radio One — the culmination of years of planning. The signal has always been available on AM at 540 on the dial, but there have been complaints about the quality of the signal over the years. Now, though the AM signal will continue, there’s another option at 94.1 megahertz on FM.

Now, “crystal-clear” is pushing it, eh?

Since CBC Radio One in Toronto switched to an FM band, the quality of the signal was not too bad, but don’t they still broadcast in MONO?

“Sirius”-ly, if the CBC wants to improve the quality of its programmes and/or venture out, the least they can do is make their signals in stereo.

    Hooray for Saskatoon!

Anyone know if Radio One in Vancouver is considering getting an FM frequency? The AM signal has gotten terrible in the last couple of years.

Congratulations Saskatoon, here’s hoping AM690 in Vancouver follows suit.

    Tod says:

Believe me, I would LOVE it if Vancouver could get a FM frequency. The problem is there simply aren’t any FM frequencies left on the dial in Vancouver. :-( One can tune into 90.5 FM (Victoria’s transmitter) and usually get a not-bad signal from some places in the GVRD.
