Yesterday, the Academy of Canadian Television announced the full slate of nominations in regular categories for this year’s Gemini Awards. CBC Television received 194 nominations, one of the highest numbers its ever scored.
In addition, it swept four categories, ensuring Gemini wins for CBC Television in: Best Direction in a News Information Program or Series; Best Photography in a Comedy, Variety or Performing Arts Program or Series; Best News Magazine Segment; and Best Host or Interviewer in a News Information Program or Series.
The awards will be presented on October 16, 17, and 18 and on November 4.

‘ear! ‘ear!
Also did the CBC earn 194 geminis, or 194 gemini nominations?
Oops.
while the nomination count does seem impressive, what you fail to mention is that CTV didn’t submit nominations this year in news and current affairs categories.
Was CTV asleep at the switch or they just knew they could not win?
