CBC’s Thunder Bay station is back on the air today after much of its building was flooded last week. “Our program manager showed up at 6:45 a.m. and was greeted by Thunder Bay firefighters,” morning show host Lisa Laco told InsideTheCBC.com. “He opened the front door and water was cascading down the walls…. It was like Niagara Falls.”
     The flood came as a result of a water leak in the ceiling of the second floor. Since then, walls have been turn down, workstations rearranged, and massive fans and dehumidifiers have been running for more than a week.
     ”There are barely any workstations,” says Lisa. “Let alone phones that are operational. For about five days, programming from Thunder Bay consisted of morning weather breaks. The Afternoon Show became a northern show. It was a mess!”
     As of yesterday, Thunder Bay was back at full programming, though not at full strength. Phones and desks are still in demand and plastic tarping still covers most of the newsroom.
