But that’s odd. How come the Western Semi-final and final are being broadcasted in HD and not the Eastern Semi-final and final?

Oh great. Yet another round of “we interrupt your regular programming to bump all of your regular news and programming to the back burner”.

We’re poorly served by CBC local programming and now, once again, nationally. If I want to see sports, I go to see the local folks play, and I support them, but Toronto is not local to me in Halifax. The only TV broadcast supporting local Nova Scotia sports is Global TV.
