Designs for the CBC

Science & Sons
Science and Sons, a Toronto design shop is working on prototype of a radio that only gets two stations – CBC Radio One, and CBC Radio 2. The prototype is called ‘RADIO CANADA’, and is “a homage to the cultural significance of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.” The design was inspired by dedicated CBC listeners who are permanently tuned to CBC Radio.
The prototype also acknowledges two different broadcast eras, on one side is an analogue tuning gauge, while the bottom has an electronic display and dial.

Love love love it
I’ll take three!
Oh wow. This is fantastic. I must have one.
If it were Radio One, Radio 3 and Radio Canada – I’d totally get one
If there were anything worth listening to I’d love one.
I’ve had my own version for the last 20 years…
Do any other types of radio exist?
Too bad we never had a design shop
Get back to me when there’s one which also gets R3 and the French networks. But I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the exploding pizza speaker grille.
If it’s called Radio Canada, where’s la Première Chaîne et l’Espace Musique?
Gimme gimme!
I was so disappointed to see that it was only a prototype- I want three as well!
Yay CBC!
This must immediately be made available for purchase at a reasonable price.
Simply fantastic, when & where can I get one?!!!
Love it … but my Canada has 4 CBC Radio channels. 1, 2, Premiere Chaine, Espace Musique. We can do it – honestly we can!
I MUST have this !
I love the design. Is it possible to include CBC radio 3 – either wireless or plugging it in?
Will they make a version for Prince Rupert which only has one button as we don’t receive radio 2?
Tis beautiful, and a nice take on the horribly dated CBC logo, but it fails without Radio Canada, specifically Espace Musique.
OK I WANT ONE !! Maybe two.
How much and where do you order it?????
If you make it, they will buy. And so will I.
RADIO CANADA PLEASE!! (colbert style hand clasp)
This thing is amazing. I want one maintenant.
Great design. It should carry all and only stations of CBC/Radio-Canada from AM/FM bands.
How can this possibly work? CBC is on different frequencies all over the country. Must be programmed for each location? Or does it really have a full-band AM and FM tuner as implied by the wheel on the side? Then how does it exclude non-CBC stations? Will only CBC stations transmit some secret code to `unlock` it? The mind boggles at the technological challenge. Long live the exploding pizza.
Great concept; suggest it also include SRC Premiere Chaine and Espace Musique.
I really like the radio, but does it by any chance have a time machine feature? If I’m limited to just CBC Radio 1 and 2, then I want to be able to tune in the CBC of more glorious years past, not the mediocrity that has taken over since Stursberg implemented his plan.
Seems like a good idea to add the francophone option to the design for future editions. You never know who’s going to want them or where they might live in Canada, right?
Yes, the 2 switch should lead to Espace musique. We’ve all given up on the Nu RadiOH 2.
That speaker aperture in the middle should have been cut in a way that it would be shaped like the letter C.
