The very observant of you may have noticed that the CBC.ca web site went down today for about ten minutes, thanks to a problem at their upstream provider. It’s back up now, and everyone who reported it has won a lifetime subscription to Sirius. (Not available in all provinces. Some restrictions apply.)

I noticed but I did not know there was going to be prizes… I assumed the CBC knew that their own website was down…
Next time I go for the prizes!
The problem was, since the CBC’s ISP was down, no internet was coming into or going out of the building. Couldn’t tell if we were online or not. Apparently the City of Toronto and a couple of large corporations were also affected by the service provider’s hiccup.
Looks like we need to dust off that PC in the corner that still has a 56K modem in it… now, how to find a non-PBX (analog) phone line?
