Dragonfly on the wall
Even more proof that CBC’s getting into the blogosphere, the CBC has hired a blogger to follow the show Dragons’ Den around through the audition phase.
Kempton Lam has been a regular commenter here and his WordPress-hosted blog is here.
Like this blog, CBC has given Kempton editorial control about what he wants to blog about and focus on (except, of course, for giving away the show’s outcome!)

Dear Tod,
Thanks so much for featuring my Dragonfly site.
Unfortunately an “Oh, shit” moment and the powerful CBC Communication Department got to me yesterday morning at 9:15am. My 4-day special access lasted for only 45 hours. The weight of the rule books and legal forms basically crushed this poor little Dragonfly to death. On my long bus ride home, my eyes were wet at one point, not because of the lost chance to see some more inside stuff. It is more me mourning the lost of opportunities for CBC.
It almost felt like I am one of the extras in Star War Episode 4 when the death star (CBC’s Communication Department) is in full operational mode. There are still hope I think but the special access by this little Dragonfly has been officially crushed to death.
Best Regards,
Kempton
P.S. Here is my longish blog entry about this unfortunate turn of event,

Hi Kempton (and everyone):
CBC Communications here.
Just to set the record straight, we didn’t have anything to do with your being escorted out of the building. In fact, we weren’t aware of your existence until we noticed ourselves getting trashed in your blog. In phoning around, it appears that a program producer (who we’ll leave unnamed, as this seems to have been nothing more than an unfortunate misunderstanding) over-reacted to someone’s query as to who you were.
I understand the producer has been trying to contact you ever since in order to clear things up, but you haven’t been returning his calls. Hope you guys can work it out soon.
But from our point of view, we have no problems with your blogging, no fear of any questions you may ask. Glad to hear you’re a fan of Dragon’s Den. And by all means, Kempton, if you have issues with us, please feel free to contact us directly to discuss them.

Hello Jeff,
Thanks for the open dialogue from CBC Communications. I will definitely take up on your offer to contact you to clarify this confusion as what I was instructed was clear. I will email you my phone number and may be you can email me yours too.
The reason I haven’t been returning any calls is because I am in Banff blogging/reporting on the Banff World TV Festival (right after my trip to Toronto).
I will get in touch with you and the producer to clear this up later this week or early next week once I am finished reporting on nextMEDIA and BWTVF.
Again, thanks for being open about this. When the world’s broadcasters and content producers are telling delegates thats the way to go at Banff (during nextMEDIA and BWTVF), we need to keep up on the best practice in working with fans and super fans. I will be blogging about what I learned from Banff later this week and early next week, feel free to check them out.
Best Regards,
Kempton
Hi Tod,
Thanks for your feedback on my blog.
Just a quick note. I have just met with Jeff as he is also in Banff. I have posted my first entry here.
And I will write more after Banff is finished.
