John Drainie was indeed an icon of CBC radio and television He was one of those superb Canadian actors who, through appearances on Andrew Allen’s ‘Stage’ series, made Canadian radio drama the best in the world. A correction. Scarlett Hill was a Canadian soap opera first broadcast on the CBC in October 1962. This was the first daytime soap opera produced for Canadian television.
