For some reason, CBC inboxes are being flooded with spam messages that have a similar subject line like “Hi, it’s Sue” and “Hi, it’s Dave.” If you’re looking for a quick way to remove these pesky e-rodents from your Groupwise inbox, just follow these simple instructions:
In Groupwise, pull down the Tools menu and select Rules. You will see this screen:

Click the New… button. You will see a screen that looks like this:

Type “delete hi spam” in the Rule Name field, then click the Define Conditions… button. You will get a new, smaller window. Fill it in, as such…

…and click OK. You’ll be back at the previous window. Click the Add Action… button and select Delete/Decline…

A tiny window like this will pop up:

It means you no harm. Ignore it. You can’t hurt its feelings. Just click OK.
If all is well, you should now be looking at a window that looks like this:

Click the Save button, and you’ll get back to your first window:

There! Done! Now click Close and continue on with your day. You shouldn’t get any more that start with “Hi it’s”.

Thank you for this. I’m going to try it right this minute. It’s like you were reading my mind… I even went so far as to call our IT support centre who told me that they are “working on it” but that for the moment, the best I could do, is to simply delete them. Geez…thanks…i’ve only been doing that for an eternity. Thanks again.
My pleasure.
when are you going to post the poop on news integration released today by senior managers? Couldn’t afford time to listen in.
Hey Tod,
That’s a wonderful thing.
Just one comment: you need to clik on ‘tools’ then ‘rules’, not options.
thanks,
d
Shane: The news integration meeting is tomorrow..
Doug: Thanks dude… I’ll fix that when I’m off this flight.
It’s lovely.
I was curious though - where do they all go?
If you follow the steps exactly as I have described, these spam emails get sent to CTV.
Hi Tod,
We should add e-mails at that have “Bob wrote:” in the subject box also.
I (and probably alot of people) get those e-mails too; looks like it’s from the same source.
Good point, Sean.
Hi it’s Saskboy.
Just thought I’d say hi, for some reason.
And did you know today is “Ban TV Day”? It’s every December 1st.
