Live Chat With Don Newman Today
On the eve of his last day at the CBC, Don Newman is hosting a live chat today at noon Eastern Time.
Newman is widely respected for his parliamentary analysis and long-standing coverage of Parliament Hill. In 1989 he helped launched CBC Newsworld, since then he’s covered every political story and scandal under the sun. It’s rumoured that some Prime Ministers used to call him directly, sometimes when he was on the air, to tip him off about breaking stories.
You can submit your questions in advance, or log in and ask questions live during the Q & A session, by going here.

Good luck Don.
Look for your replacement not to wear a tie and use musical tensionas a metaphor so the younger folks can understand parliament.
“The Conservatives are East Coast and the Liberals are West Cost”
“The NDP is like the grunge scene out of Seattle and the Bloc is like…wow man what is the block like?”
Genuinely sorry that I missed this!
There are extremely few people in our Corp. that I would call irreplaceable, Don Newman is one. What he gave us late afternoon was something so far beyond reading a prompter it’s pretty unthinkable to even use a work such as replacement for the next anchor of Politics.
One of our best interviewers, never false-excitement, never over the top, always on the mark and he could handle “BREAKING NEWS” and push his guests like the pro he is.
Funny, I never thought too much about him until I heard he was leaving. Somehow I think that may be the best compliment about his “story first” style.
