And he was an incredibly important catalyst in the development of "public television"….

My first child, a girl, born 1967, enjoyed her first tv programming as she daily spent that marvelous half hour with Mr Rogers, which was such an honest, sensitive to children’s real world & concerns, fears, imagination, & calming influence to otherwise frenetic Sesame Street (even, although entertaining for sure!) or mindless tv cartoons, etc.  I’ll always be grateful for his influence on this daughter of mine, who grew up to be sensitive & caring of others as well as herself.

He developed Mr Rogers with the CBC? I didn’t know that.
