CBC meteorologist Clare Martin to leave T.O. for Vancouver

Canada’s perkiest meteorlogist, Claire Martin, will join the CBC Vancouver News team August 1. She’ll help launch the new CBC News: Weather Centre West as part of the myCBCvancouver project.

Unfortunately for Clare, she’ll be presenting “Overcast, drizzly, and eight degrees” every day of the year.

Thus, in addition to this new role in Vancouver, Claire will continue to deliver national forecasts and report on breaking weather stories for The National.

Claire joined Newsworld in 2005 with the launch of the new CBC Weather Centre. In this role, she has provided national weather hits across the country, appeared regularly on The National and provided updates on local shows in Edmonton and Vancouver.

We’re lucky to get her. In the end, everyone moves to Vancouver.

She was voted best weathercaster in the world before joining the CBC. I’m a fan, eh. I love weather!

    ten says:

Oh Claire, she is awesome. I never thought I’d get a smile out of watching weather newscasts.

    Jason Paris says:

I really like her too, but can’t quite place her accent. Is it Ozzie or Kiwi?

    Tripoli says:

    She’s a Brit

    Gabriel Hurley says:

Yes, she really is great. She makes the weather forecasts interesting.

    Phil says:

Think of it like Dave Devall over at CTV Toronto in the old days. She’s probably the first weathercaster I’ve seen who’s actually TALKED about anything else BUT weather. Interesting accent, though.
