The time slot hosting The Rick Mercer Report and This Hour Has 22 Minutes is now beating the American programming it competes against every Tuesday night from 8 to 9 p.m. The St. John’s Telegram newspaper calls it “a herculean feat for Canadian programming.”

I saw the same article online in The Ottawa Citizen and The National Post newspapers early this morning but I can’t find it there anymore!
This is a perfect example of what happens when Canadian broadcastors take the necessary time to develop and promote Canadian talent here at home so that it doesn’t flee to the US. If all Canadian broadcastors were to devote more attention to doing this by opening up more opportunities to homegrown talent our programming would routinely be giving American programming a run for its money.
Although 22 isn’t nearly as good as RMR it is a power house of comedy I never miss (Love that PVR). I think RMR gives the Stewart/Colbert duo a run for their money. It’s about time English-Canadian made TV got some props. Just too bad there’s only one 30 minute episode of RMR a week.
It’s the Telegram, not Telegraph.
Oops, thanks! Fixed.
good show tues
[...] But there’s also some shows missing. Apparently the Rick Mercer Report and This Hour has 22 Minutes is slaying the ratings. We’re they conveniently removed from this article? Is this another I Hate the CBC article we often see in the papers? [...]
