My stupid blooper today: It’s Freestyle, not The Roundup
My worst fear co-hosting Freestyle came true today. I referred to the show, on air, as “The Roundup.”
You can listen here:
Freestyle blooper audio [MP3] Thanks to Bill Deys for the clip.
Have any favourite CBC bloopers you remember?
P.S. I took the picture on the right this morning about two minutes before we went to air. That’s co-host Kelly Ryan. Click the picture to see the annotated notes.

Nice! I got a recording too!
I think the fact that this blooper occurred is a sign from heaven that Roundup should be revived. I’m still not recovered from the shock of losing my favorite CBC show. Where else in the world could Sad Goat have become both a phone number and the acronym for a radio show?
A few weeks ago, CBC anchor Lynne Russell (who you profiled on your blog last week) closed an hourly news update with “You’re watching CNN Newsworld”.
I remember decades ago when Warren Davis was anchoring the National (assuming it was even called The National in those days). He read an item about infant mortality on Indian reserves and attributed the data to a report from “the department of wealth and hellfare.”
Before signing off, Davis smiled and said, “I really do know that it should have been the department of Health and Welfare.”
Don’t forget the time Jacquie Perrin said that Canada’s finance minister is Joe Flaherty. If only!
