I’ve had to keep this one under my hat for a couple of months now while we work out the bits and bytes, but finally…

Next week, CBC Radio will add new podcasts and increase the frequency of shows available to listeners. Starting Monday, April 2, CBC Radio will add 12 new podcasts. In addition, the flagship network programs The Current, Sounds Like Canada and As It Happens will move from weekly to daily highlight podcasts.
We first introduced podcasts in 2005, and the demand has been growing ever since, with downloads now averaging more than one million per month. CBC Radio 3, Qurisk and Quarks and Ideas are consistently among the top podcasts in Canada, and have a significant following around the world.
New podcasts available to download starting April 2 include:
· CBC RADIO NEWS – hourly newscasts
· THE WORLD AT SIX – the day’s evening newscast
· BEST OF SUNDAY EDITION – weekly highlights from the show
· TAPESTRY – Mary Hynes’ weekly examination of spirituality
· THE HOUSE – Kathleen Petty’s weekly political round-up
· WRITERS & COMPANY – Eleanor Wachtel’s weekly look at writers and writing
· COMEDY FACTORY – a variety of hilarious comedy features
· AND THE WINNER IS – a different prize-winning documentary each week
· C’EST LA VIE – a weekly look at French-speaking life in Canada
· LISTENER’S CHOICE – a weekly podcast selection as requested by listeners
· SPECIAL DELIVERY – a weekly podcast of highlights from CBC Radio specials
· REWIND – a historical gem, pulled from the CBC Radio Archives

Good move. I have long wanted to have The House available as a podcast.
Is this list available as an OPML ?
Gah! Where are the movie reviews?
Brilliant! No longer must I shut down iTunes, then re-start my computer and re-launch my browser to hit the CBC toolbar to realise I am again too late to hear the World at Six.
Excellent move. Often I’m in the car and can hear only the beginning of a great show. Now I can find it online more easily.
Hooray! Finally playing catchup with the BBC.
The House is a gem, as is The Sunday Edition.
Go mother corp!
Great! But I would love to see them add Fresh Air and Wiretap.
sio.
Looks great, but where’s Wiretap? I need my Goldstein! Especially since the bootleg podcast was shut down.
Still, great to see the CBC’s podcasting expanding, despite reports like these:

CBC’s continued move to “on-demand radio” is great news for anyone who values distinctive, intelligent content. I love CBC Radio One. But my job, family and and life don’t allow me to be near the radio when much of it is on. Now I can listen to The House and Writers & Company on my schedule.
Nice move CBC!
Great! I am glad to be getting more CBC podcasts. I especially like having the world at 6 as a podcast, now I’ll be better at keeping informed on the world outside of technology…
Whooooo!!! I love it… If only we could get the Vinyl Cafe, much like APM’s
News from Lake Wobegon…
Yes! Good to see more podcasts. I eager await dredgings from the “Ideas” archives, although I have no idea how you could choose what to present.
A hint to readers - check out networked mp3 players. I bought an early one five years ago, a Slimp3, from http://www.slimdevices.com (if the moderator allows a plug) but you can always google for one. They’re wonderful additions to a stereo.
This is great, I’m a CBC Podcast junkie … (note that I saw CBC Podcast not CBC Radio)
But, where is “Wiretap” where is “The Vinyl Cafe” ????
Make it happen. F! the rights!
More podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the addition of The House. Would really like to hear Wiretap as a podcast as well. Please keep adding to the podcast choices they are great.
Where is Wiretap??? I have to listen to This American Life to get Goldstein on a podcast
The reason Wiretap isn’t available is because it uses a lot of commercial music and CBC has not yet been able to acquire the rights to play commercial music in a podcast. We have live on-demand streaming rights and, of course, terrestrial broadcast rights, but we’re still trying to negotiate a fair price for Internet download (i.e. podcast) rights.
Typo alert: “Qurisk” and Quarks?

Hi Tod,
Thanks for posting a response on Wiretap. Would the same apply to Fresh Air and Vinyl Cafe?
Siobhan
Hourly newscasts…yes!
Rewind…yes!
The House…yes!
I had forgotten about C’est la Vie…must re-sub to that one right away. I loved it.
Can I put a vote in for Go!
I have a radio, a timer, and a recording program on my computer, and a patch cable from the radio to the computer audio in. If it plays on the radio, I can put it on my MP3 player.
