Parle français (pas puits)

Inside the CBC now speaks eight languages — seven of them rather poorly (what do you expect from an automated translationbot). If you’d care to try them out, just click on the appropriate flag in the right sidebar. It looks like this:
![]() |
Go ahead. Click one. (If it comes out with all question-marks, it means you don’t have that language’s font installed in your system.)
But remember, it’s only a robot. So don’t take it too seriously when it helpfully offers such twisted syntax like “CBC has with exception placed numerous instances of the image within the controlling device of wavesless radio.”
It’s trying. That’s all that matters.

Wow! the translation is pretty decent. I thought it would be bad, really bad but the french was legible. Nice plugin!
C’est très drôle! OMG – but I must admit much better than the Google translation tools. At least this one translates one sentence at a time as opposed to word by word. Oddly enough, it still sort of makes sense and adds entertainment value. THanks for trying!
You may wish to Google for reasons why using national flags (let alone 15-pixel-wide images thereof) is a bad idea to indicate language.
Among other things, your flags claim that the English used is U.K. English and the French used is from France. Which flag represents Spanish? Oh, and quick: What language, hypothetically, would a Canadian flag represent?
Machine translate is fine for a laugh here and there, but you’ve got other things to do on this blog, Tod.
It’s a surprisingly accurate translator.
The German actually makes sense, although I do love how the word “freaking” is left intact.
Is this the translator that they use on DNTO for Lost in Translation? (my kid is still waiting for her t-shirt for winning the Joel Plaskett lyrics, by the way, Sook Yin)
I speak both French and Italian and was not impressed:( but….. it is only a robot after all…
