I have never understood why snob leftists have always taken great joy in being called communists. Why would anybody wish to associate themselves with such incredible death and oppression. Death and oppression are both relative concepts. The Bush dynasty will not be remembered for it’s acts of peace and mercy – this is for certain. It is also true that communist regimes throughout history have been marred by corruption, death, and oppression – the point is that the same holds true for most right wing/capitalistic regimes. “I bet none of you have any idea what it means to be a communist” …yeah, and I bet you don’t have any idea as to what it feels like to be gassed alive inside a Nazi shower either.
Basing your political beliefs on the past successes and failures of previous political regimes is weak at best, considering Chomsky’s dead-on statement regarding the fact that no totalitarian regime in the history of mankind has ever survived.
In this day and age if I was forced to label myself I’d rather be called a communist than a conservative. The left has so much more to offer in regards to the environment and humanity in general.
