Montreal “Radio Noon” host sought

jobsCBC Radio in Montreal is looking for a new host for its Radio Noon show.

Besides about five years of on-air or equivalent experience, you’ve got to understand the culture of French Canada and have extensive knowledge of current affairs, in particular of Quebec public affairs.

Your English musts be very goods and the Frenchs pas le mal.

Finally, in a requirement that seems to rule me out of all CBC work these days: “Extensive general knowledge.”

    Fagstein says:

Your slug for this story is “radionoonhos”. I believe only one ho will be required to fill this position.

Fagstein » Want to host CBC’s Radio Noon? says:

[...] There’s an opening. I guess that means the current host isn’t coming back. [...]

    Emily G. says:

“you’ve to speak understand the culture of French Canada”?

Hopefully you need to have better grammar skills than that to get the job.

@fagstein: Yeah, it’s a bug in Wordpress, the CMS which drives this blog. If you go back to other posts, you’ll see it in others too. Occasionally, it severs the last character off the post title. Still, it’s a far cry from /montreal-radio-noon-host-sought. :)

@emily: Oops - thanks, you caught a typo. That should have been “you’ve got to,” not “you’ve to speak”

    amy amy says:

I hope they’ll overhaul the show at the same time.

A one hour phone-in is too long, particularly 5 days a week, particularly with the sort of topics they’re covering.

There’s so much talk of appealing to a larger audience in Radios One and Two these days, but so much programming is still aimed at the suburbs.

    Emily G. says:

I agree with amy amy. I usually skip the phone-in part of the show, except on rare occasions when it’s a topic that really interests me.

    Craig says:

So what’s Anne going to do if she doesn’t win the election and can’t go back to Radio Noon?

    NDP'er says:

Do you really think she would have run without some sort of guarantee?
