Save the CBC North Campaign Picks up Steam
The campaign to reverse the cutbacks at the CBC’s Northern Ontario services continues to bubble away.
Last night the Sault Ste. Marie local city council endorsed a campaign called Save Our CBC North.
The campaign is gathering petitions on a web site which states “We need oppose CBC Radio Canada’s action to significantly erode this important communications link in our region.”
And they’ve got this cool retro mash-up poster.

Please, let’s save CBC North! And while we’re at it, since there are cutbacks everywhere within the CBC (radio and tv, local and national), why not save it all??!!
Something about the poster doesn’t work for me. Any chance of post the original poster to see what the police officer is mad about.
Bravo to Sault Ste. Marie City Council. I applaud your values. I, too hold the CBC in high esteem, and I consider it the valuable link which connects Canadians, informs us, and enhances our identity and sovereignity. I am against the increasing merger with the U.S. politically and morally. Canadian journalism used to be the envy of the world. Let’s get back to that, and again tell the world what is really what. I demand more Canadian content on CBC television shows. No more American movie stars touting their latest films FOR FREE on our airwaves please, while great Canadian talent like Chris Haddock, Madeline Peroux, and film-maker Paul Manly go unrecognized. – Madeline Bruce, Nanaimo, B.
