Songquest Kicks Off Season 2
The Great Canadian Songquest, CBC Radio 2′s musical exercise that marries music with iconic Canadian places, has started up again.
This year, instead of celebrating towns and places, fans are being asked to nominate their favourite stretch of Canadian road. From there the audience will vote on the submissions and CBC Radio pairs the winners with a short list of musicians to turn them into road songs.
The submissions run the gamut, for instance a thoughtful submission was recently made to turn the Highway of Tears to music.
The nominating round closes on September 22nd.

We already have many songs dedicated to the “Highway of Heroes”, no-doubt to the CBC’s chagrin. But I can easily see why the author of this blog linked to the ‘highway of tears’, seeing as how it’s a perfect opportunity for the CBC to recommend the same old left-wing big-government policies to combat the horrific disappearances of young women there: subsidize bus service. And spend millions on inquests, investigations, and documentary films. After all, mostly minorities were involved in these atrocities, thankfully bringing them to the top of the CBC’s priority list.
Unfortunately, and again to the CBC’s chagrin, these women were unable to defend themselves because of the CBC’s opposition to allowing them to carry guns. If one of these women were given the chance, they could have put an end to the predator’s perversion 30 years ago: a bullet in the head.

Hitchhiking is common in First Nations communities, as unfortunately many First Nations people are completely reliant on government handouts, and are rewarded with independence through welfare payments, meagre as they are. The solution is not more government, it is LESS government. I love First Nations people and First Nation communities, and unfortunately the CBC’s beloved socialism does more harm than good for these folks. That’s my rant for today.
