The CBC’s Roots
An article in the NetNewsledger, an online paper in Thunder Bay, explored the roots of the CBC, here’s a snippet:
The CBC has its real roots in then Port Arthur, and now Thunder Bay. It was C. D. Howe, as a Minister in the King Government who brought forward the legislation needed to create the CBC. Howe is likely better known for the creation of other crown corporations, including Air Canada. However it was as Minister of Minister of Railways and Canals that Howe was responsible for the CBC.
In the early days of the CBC the network broadcast on trains, and thereby came under the responsibility of the Minister of Railways and Canals.

So the CBC wasn;t always a left-wing socialist voicebox for high taxes, redistribution of wealth, and promotion of abortion? They didn’t always hire left-wing commentators to repeate ndp/liberal/green talking points? Huh. Imagine that.
I guess it’s about time to privatize the CBC. If it can’t survive unless it’s subsidized by Canadian taxpayers, then something’s wrong. We have so many choices nowadays. Maybe all Canadians could be given shares in the company, and the CBC can deal with the real world.
“He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.” Liberals knew this so natually, they filled the CBC with party hacks who only hire people who they agree with.
This is why it needs to be purged.
actually Bill, only the CBC president is appointed by the government, and he was appointed by the Conservatives. Otherwise the reason the Liberal made many of the previous presidential appointments is because it was they who were mostly in power.
They were the ones in power and to stay in power, they recognized that the state owned media needed to be filled with their mandarins. The CBC is all too ready to spew Liberal talking points or drum up the ever so predictable professor who can always be relied upon to deliver the party line.
A number of years ago, I recall seeing a pie chart showing that 82% of CBC board of directors donate to the Libs and only 15% to what was the Progressive Conservatives at that time. Has anything changed since?
Why is Newslab saying that this blog is closing? Why no announcement here?

Not a big fan of CBC. .I’m of the opinion government should not be in the Television and Radio Network Business. The ONE BILLION DOLLAR Taxpayer SUBSIDY should be eliminated asap. That’s my mileage(opinion) other Canadians mileage may differ.
