Taping of the upcoming CBC miniseries The Border apparently caused quite a stir today in Oshawa, Ont. The crew was shooting a scene where a twin-engined plane is supposed to land in the middle of a rural road in northern Quebec. But the location was actually Stevenson Road, near Oshawa Municipal Airport. It was clearly visible to drivers on busy Taunton Road, prompting concerned calls from drivers and the media. According to airport manager Stephen Wilcox, “Today is the one day it’s OK if you see a plane on the road.” The general scene was even more chaotic because the shot called for gunfire and plenty of extras. Here’s a picture.

The airplane is a Piaggio P-180 Avanti. Piaggio is owned by Fararri and is one of the coolest planes out there. They are also the only company to make both aircraft engines and airframes.
The props actually push the plane, instead of pull it through the air.
This particular airplane is owned by FlightExec and is based out of Buttonville, Ontario.
