Another CBC executive goes to Wikimedia
Jay Walsh, until recently a communications manager for the CBC, has been poached to manage communications at the Wikimedia Foundation.
He’s the second senior manager to head to the organization, which manages the Wikipedia web site.
Sue Gardner, who now heads Wikimedia, left the CBC as senior director of CBC.ca last May. At the time, Gardner told InsideTheCBC.com she didn’t know what her future held and she planned to take the summer off to explore opportunities. Less than 10 weeks later, her appointment at Wikimedia was announced.
Before joining the CBC, Walsh worked in communications for various departments of the Canadian government.
In an unrelated appointment, former CBC Radio reporter Josée Bellemare is now the press secretary to the minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
