One-click listening to CBC Radio
Here’s a handy little thing — this CBC Radio widget will sit unobtrusively on your desktop and whenever you want to tune into CBC Radio, you just click it. In the preferences, you can even tune into any of the live streams you prefer, giving you the ability to timeshift. It requires the free Yahoo! Widget engine, but I find it really very handy.

Since the above-linked widget appears to be Windows-only, I’ll mention that Yahoo! Widgets has one for Macs too. (For those Mac users who aren’t on Tiger.)
This widget seems to work for Windows only. Would have been nice if you warned us about that, since I wasted some time installing the prereq Yahoo! Widget first, before I found this out. Sigh, I wish it were available on Mac!
Update: As it turns out, they’re right. It’s Windows only. But Mac users can use my other little widget.
And what about us using Linux (Fedora Core 5 here)?
Last week I hooked up my AM “loop” antenna to my home stereo… quaint, but it does the job…
And when is CBW-AM’s FM transmitter on 89.3 supposed to be up and running in Winnipeg?
Hey Tod…my McAfee program tells me there is ‘Adware-Softomate.dll’ in the widget engine program when I try to install it…is it dangerous??? Or another Big Brother kind of thing…
just want to know before I install…
thanks,
Don
Thanks for creating this- it will make listening to CBC so much easier. And French CBC would be great.
Unfortunately I’m still having problems downloading the widget for Mac (OS 10. something). I get this message: “It either isn’t a wdiget or you don’t have access to that file. (OpenWidget: Cannot find Widget file in zip container).
Any thoughts.
Thanks.
Don – That’s odd. I don’t know what you downloaded there, but there really shouldn’t be that file in there…
