Hey all, Paul Gorbould here - I’ll be filling in for Tod for the next couple of weeks while he takes a well-deserved health break, so please bear with me while I adjust the seat and mirrors, and do send me any comments or story suggestions you might have. Thanks!

Love having you Paul. Welcome back.
What’s a health break? Is it what we in the private sector call vacation? Or, do you have something in between vacation and sick leave?
There ought to be such a thing in both public and private sectors, I think. The idea makes sense.
What is the idea? Do people in the CBC actually get to say that they aren’t coming into work so that they can take a health break? Without dipping into their vacation?
Please - someone in the know answer this question.
I want a health break from paying for this crap!!!!!!!!!!
Relax… Tod works on contract, so if he wants to take a break he can call it whatever he wants. He wrote about it here. There isn’t an official “health break” for staff.
oh hell, there’s lots of staff on “health breaks”. It’s like burnout central around here. And half my office is “on contract”….
Many of us consider you the rightful author of this blog in the first place.
Back in the private sector we used to take “health days” all the time. It sounded better than “I have the mother of all hangovers and don’t have the strength to put on trousers”.
In the CBC, at least for me, this is a much rarer occurrence.
Not all of us drink(to excess), though. But we still need health days.
