Your turn: News or opinion?
My thanks to Paul Gorbould from CBC Archives for doing a bang-up job as usual as understudy.
I noticed that Paul’s style of blogging is really fun to read — he tends to do fewer stories but spends more time putting his opinion or anecdotes into the postings. It got me wondering if maybe he’s onto something.

Can’t we have both?
Tod, this only works for bloggers like Gourbould because he’s genuinely well-rounded.
Like it or not, most of what you’ve done with this blog smacks of self-absorption.
CBC management, start passing this blog around to other folks. The difference is refreshing.
I tend to enjoy more professional opinion – no personal – backed up. Also I see this blog as great insight to CBC and for me would be a potential marketing tool to attract me apply for employment at CBC. As a fellow blogger, a writer, a computer scientist, and all around techie I believe that when used properly blogging, podcasting, and an array of other technologies could help promote CBC not hinder it.

eg: This past Friday, NASA scientists discovered Saturn’s 60th moon……they named it Frank.
The numbers would seem to agree, too: it’s sitting at exactly 50% (26 votes) each way right now!
Thanks for the kind words, Tod – I had a hoot. And I think Curmudgeon must be referring to my increasingly well-rounded middle. If I could self-absorb that, I would!
I’ve looked at your stuff for nearly a year now, Tod, and my answer to your survey is to stay exactly as you are.
Your instincts seem to serve you well, and you’ve done a lot of interesting things in the course of building a good blog.
I especially like the way you get on top of news about the CBC, like your excellent interview with the new Chairman, and also tuning in to other blogs like the great Ouimet and Teamakers.
Please stay just the way you are. It makes it so much easier to make fun of you.
